This project at Metropolis at Metrotown focused on targeted parkade concrete crack repair and structural restoration within underground parking and service areas. The scope addressed visible cracking, water intrusion pathways, and deteriorated concrete conditions affecting both cast-in-place concrete walls and block assemblies.
Work included routing and preparation of structural cracks, removal of loose or compromised concrete, and exposure of affected reinforcing steel where required. Areas with corrosion staining and moisture migration were treated to stabilize the substrate and prevent further deterioration. Cracks and voids were carefully repaired using compatible repair materials designed to restore continuity, strength, and durability to the concrete elements.
Special attention was given to vertical and horizontal crack patterns, construction joints, and service penetrations commonly found in large commercial parkades. Repairs were completed with precision to ensure long-term performance in a high-use environment subject to moisture, temperature fluctuations, and daily operational stress.
The completed work enhances the structural integrity, safety, and service life of the parkade while maintaining functionality for one of British Columbia’s busiest commercial complexes. This project reflects a practical, engineered approach to concrete restoration in large-scale commercial infrastructure.
